What actions can we take to achieve climate neutrality? Can these actions make a difference?
“Kick the Habit - A UN Guide to Climate Neutrality”, a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) publication, provides answers to these questions and highlights that we can make a difference by supporting the transition to a less carbon intensive economy.
The booklet’s main subject is climate neutrality and provides an overview of reasons to become climate neutral, how to mitigate climate change and the importance of adaptation.
“We are all part of the solution. Whether you are an individual, a business, an organization or a government, there are many steps you can take to reduce your climate footprint” says Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, referring to the fundamental message of the “Kick the Habit” guide.
This publication was written and produced by UNEP/GRID- Arendal for World Environment Day 2008, and was reviewed by experts from many disciplines and various countries. The booklet is aimed at a broad audience, with solutions for individuals, small and large businesses, NGOs, international organizations, cities and countries.
“Kick the Habit – A UN Guide to Climate Neutrality” is available for download from UNEP’s website in a series of languages (English; French; Spanish; Russian; Chinese; and Arabic).
e)mission is one of the offset services recommended by UNEP in its Climate Neutral Network. Access2 Carbon Markets, the company which developed the e)mission service, and partners lavola and TerraSystemics, representing e)mission in Spain and Andorra, and Portugal, respectively, are all members of the Climate Neutral Network, observing ambitious targets to reduce carbon emissions, and committing to carbon neutrality.
