e)mission news
The 8th edition of Cascais Cool Jazz Fest started e)mission neutral certified® and filled the town hall with the sounds of Jazz during July.
EDP, the jazz festival´s sponsor, chose e)mission to calculate the event´s carbon footprint. The principal greenhouse gas emission sources were considered, including fuel used by generators, utility vehicles, prodution of gifts and materials, waste generation, spectators´ mobility, event coordination and all the activity associated with the bands (flights, local mobility and accommodation). The carbon footprint of Cascais Cool Jazz Fest’11 was 346 tons of CO2eq.
EDP offset the total amount of CO2 released to organize and implement the Cascais CoolJazzFest 2011 with the purchase of carbon credits that have been used to support a sustainable project – the construction of a Small Hydroelectric Power Plant in Honduras, with an installed capacity of 4 MW.
Once again, EDP and e)mission work together to raise public awareness of the issue of sustainability and climare responsibility in connection with an important cultural event. See the Cascais CoolJazzFest website for more information on this yearly event.
