73rd Portugal Bike Tour: a greener Volta

EDP is a major sponsor of one of Portugal´s main annual sporting events:  the Portugal Bike Tour ("Volta a Portugal").  

 

For its 73rd edition, EDP once again commissioned e)mission to account and offset the carbon footprint of the activities and products of EDP´s responsibility in sponsoring the event.  All the major emission sources, such as vehicles used by EDP during the Tour, EDP´s team mobility, accommodation and catering, and distributed gifts, were accounted for.

 

The carbon footprint associated with the sponsorship of EDP during the 73th Portugal Bike Tour was 79.8 tonnes of CO2eq and it was properly offset through support to a project which reduces carbon emissions while contributing to local sustainability: the Small Hydro Power Plant in Honduras.
