Banif, one of Portugal´s principal Bank Groups, organized three Golf Tournaments in Algarve, Azores and Madeira; in keeping with the Group´s environmental policy, the tournaments were offered as e)mission neutral activities; the events´ carbon footprints were accounted and duly offset.
Relevant emission sources included energy energy and fuel consumption, airtravel and other transport sector greenhouse gases, catering and accommodation. The fractional impact of the maintenance of the golf infrstructure was also considered. The carbon impact of the Tournaments in the Algarve, Madeira and Azores was of 20.1 tCO2eq, 8.5 tCO2eq and 44.4 tCO2eq, respectively.
