e)mission news
In promoting e)mission services as the low carbon way towards a more eco-efficient economy and society, partner companies make sure they have their house in order and have committed to account their carbon footprint and fully offset 100 per cent of their carbon emissions.
Access2 Carbon Markets is a carbon market and project development and company which set up the e)mission service, and represents e)mission internationally. lavola, the Spanish consultancy outfit which provides a range of sustainability, energy and certification services, commercializes e)mission carbon management and neutralization services throughout Spain and Andorra. TerraSystemics, the Lisbon based consultancy specializing in energy, climate and development, promotes carbon management services through e)mission in Portugal.
e)mission partner companies are also working to identify measures to reduce their carbon impact – as part of their environmental policies and commitment to corporate sustainability, with the imperative of reducing costs of resources such as electricity, fuels and materials, in order to continuously improve economic results and corporate competitiveness.
Access2 Carbon Markets offices have now switched all air conditioning equipment to very efficient units, and have incorporated double glazed windows in the office, which is based in an historic building in the centre of Lisbon. To cut down on travel, meetings with partners and clients in different parts of the world are carried out using web-based video conferencing solutions.
In the case of lavola, the Barcelona office has switched all lighting systems to high efficiency solutions, and installed a control system for indoor air temperature. The headquarters, in Manlleu, are based in a purpose-built building taking into account several sustainability criteria, honored with several awards, and that also acquired the FEED Gold certification during the end of 2010.
TerraSystemics has newly converted to a fully green power tariff for its electricity consumption. 100 per cent of its staff come to work on foot or by public transport, as it is centrally located near a major transport hub. Employees have discussed with management and agreed to create a policy in which all staff would footprint and offset their own personal carbon footprint, in keeping with individual commitment to climate and integrating the cost of carbon in society.
All e)mission partner companies are Members of the United Nations Carbon Neutral Network, a network of excellence comprising companies and public entities with strong commitments on carbon mitigation. e)mission is one of very few carbon offset services globally to be endorsed by the Carbon Neutral Network.
