e)mission news
The Estoril Conferences 2011 once again brings to the beautiful coastal town of Estoril, near Lisbon foremost intellectuals and activists to debate and explore issues of global significance and local impact.
The mega event will take place from the 4th and 6th of May at the Estoril Congress Centre and will be entirely carbon neutral, certified by e)mission. Various measures are being considered to reduce emissions which would otherwise result from conventional event planning. A bespoke carbon calculator available at the convention site will enable all participants to determine their carbon footprint in travelling to the event, or for their household. It will be hosted at the Estoril Conference Centre itself an e)mission neutral facility certified as a “Green Venue” by Green Globe International.
Mia Couto, Francis Fukuyama, Jordi Pujol and Nouriel Roubini are among the speakers that will participate on this year’s event which will include four conferences and four thematic panels about following themes: the Architecture of Global Governance; the aftermath of the economic and financial crisis global; threats and human security; globalization and domestic policies.
The last Estoril Conferences edition, in 2009, brought together speakers such as Tony Blair, Joseph Stiglitz, Mary Robinson, Muhammad Yunus and José Maria Aznar. The Conference report, including carbon footprint results, are available from www.estorilconferences.com.
